I’ve decided to come out of my comfort zone and watched an Anime that’s not in my usual M.O.. This actually is my first time reviewing a Mystery, Horror, Thriller Anime. “She” seems to be popular and at the same time many still doesn’t know “She” exist. No I am not talking about the female in the Anime, Rather I’ve considered to refer to Anime as a female. Sounds weird? It is and I like it.

Moving into a new school, Sakakibara Kouichi, gets caught in a mysterious legend about a girl that died in the same class 26 years ago that people suspect to cause deaths of people in and or connected to the class.

Are you willing to have a relationship with someone who does not exist?

Questions, that is what makes up a good mystery story. As with the main character, you will find your self asking the same questions that only by progressing through the story will you get the answer. At the very beginning you are brought to speed with the events of the story, having been told a legend that is the story’s basis.  The story moves at constant speed which is needed to keep the viewers up-to-date with how the story progresses at the same time it gives the viewers time to think, time to reflect and time to assume.

vlcsnap-2013-06-15-23h10m06s125You will be greeted with a creepy atmosphere from the start of the series, as expected from a Horror-type Anime. You will be constantly reminded of the creepy vibe with creepy shots of creepy dolls inserted in one to two frames every time you begin to assume based on what is being said in the dialogue. Those creepy shots are to prepare you on what to come midway into the series.  The creepy shots will die down after the first death event.

As questions begins to be answered and the isolation of the viewer to the story fades.

Deaths are to be expected, note that Death in an Anime under the Horror genre quite differs from the deaths in an Anime under the drama genre. You will not be sad on the deaths of characters in this anime but rather you will assume who will be next. Most deaths will be very painful to see blood will be everywhere.

What time of day does one feel sensitive? –the answer is Sunset. Most of the time you will be seeing the outside with some sort of Sunset feel, Usually its the feel that makes you start asking deep questions inside your head. Details, you may notice that everything that each character moves around on pops up. Showing details that makes up the setting of each scene is critical to giving the viewer a sense of uneasiness being able to see anything around the main character and make assumptions that something will definitely happen in this scene… but nothing will. Other than the feel of the surroundings the art for the characters are the same as other anime series, regardless of what genre.

This is for those who didn’t have the intention to read what i have written before this section.

Another, does have an interesting story. Its kind of like watching those Crime Scene Investigation shows where you are presented with a dead body, then the story on how that body became dead will become clear as you watch until the very end. It is very satisfying. I enjoyed everything the Anime had to offer. I think i’ve enjoyed it so much that i couldn’t seem to find anything that is questionable about the series. Oh yes i did find one. I hate how it only has 12 episodes! Anyway I think this will be my new thing for awhile. Murder-Horror cases.

Final Destination, the animated series was decent for what it was, but got bashed because it supposedly went downhill for many. As for me, I have a pet peeve against the show, yet still enjoyed it.

Hmm i didn’t know Final Destination had an animated series. I assume it has better deaths and death reactions than the live action. Anime does have better facial expressions than live action. Except for Aku no Hana’s Anime adaptation… art’s horrible! I haven’t watched it nor read the manga but a friend showed me comparisons of the manga and anime and boy was i shocked.

    • Overlord-G says:

Another IS the Final Destination anime that I was referring to. Don’t tell me you didn’t notice the resemblace between the movies and the anime.

I haven’t seen Aku no Hana yet but the distinct art style is quite charming.

    • Gisei says:

Oh… well i remember the other final destination movies… what final destination movie is Another based on?

    • Overlord-G says:

Dood, the people get killed by initially random, revealed later to be supernaturally determined circumstances. Do you still not see the connection?

    • Gisei says:

well yeah i knew that… i thought you were saying that there is a final destination movie that has the same story but just got turned into an anime. 😛

    • Overlord-G says:

No, there was not. It’s a nickname. Just like my nickname for Shingeki no Kyojin is Shadow of the Colossus: The animated Series.

    • Gisei says:

Now that i didn’t know, thats great though. It would be a huge downer for me if Another is just the Anime copy of final destination, though they have similar aspects, they’re not entirely the same ^__^
